How Many Pairs of Shoes Do You Own?
ASR learned that thousands of vulnerable people in Uganda suffer from a crippling parasite called jiggers. They suffer because they don't own even one pair of shoes. ASR started collecting over 75 pairs of jeans. In collaboration with the non-profit Sole Hope, we planned to host a 'Shoe Party' but due to Co-vid, we all got busy tracing and cutting patterns in our own homes. What an amazing way to benefit the world while being quarantined. Thanks to our District 5450 matching Grant, ASR provided 190 pairs of shoes. As the winter rolls around, we still find eager Rotarians ready to keep cutting denim. ~ over 300 pairs of shoes to date.
